Do artists need validation?

In this video I would like to share with you my thoughts on validation as an artist. I used to seek approval for my art from the external environment. Everything from competitions, exhibitions and social media. However I realise now that the most important thing is that I am happy with what I am producing. If I am not happy with it and only making it for approval then I guess what is the point of making art in the first place. Hopefully if I enjoy making the art and I feel strongly about it, I would like to think that value should transfer over to other people with similar interests.
